Mixed Media Monday: HOPE

Another Monday and what a way to start off the week with another instalment of Mixed Media!  In honour of those who battle or have battled with the big "C" we are paying tribute this next two weeks to them with our Linky Party theme:  Think Pink.  Please join us and show us your inspired projects, remember to use stickles and Think Pink.

"HOPE" is my two page spread in my favourite art journal.  I bring this journal everywhere and try to put some of my best art journal pages and art examples in it. I, like so many others have been and continue to be affected by Cancer and it's war on innocence, a losing war for even Cancer loses in the end.   I have experienced some excruciatingly tough times in my life be it with this disease or others and when I hear people ask anyone in the battle "how do you do it?"  The answer is usually "hope".  When all else fails and there doesn't even seem to be any reason to hold on there is always hope.  Hope, for a cure.

The above two page spread is a combination of acrylic paints over a gessoed background, followed by a mixture of ink sprays, stamping with inks, stencils and paint and more dye sprays.  There is a mixture of shimmery pigments and water-soluble charcoal.  The shadows of the girls were made with handout silhouette masks, gel ink and white pastel chalk.  The hearts on the girl figures are made with "Pink Stickles".  (Ranger)The page is completed with letter stickers and washi tapes. Note that most of the dyes, inks and sprays are from Ranger.

Featured Fan Friday: Mayra, Part II

Hello everyone! Mayra here from Mayras Designs,  I am here to today as the featured fan for All that stickles as well as having a new challenge at Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges! The theme at All that Stickles is Fall Harvest! I decided to do a layout of my two older sons when they were 2 and 4 years old! Quite a long time ago, I am glad I am working through my piles of pictures! I followed the sketch that is at Scrapping 4 Fun.

Thank you for stopping by.  I Hope you feel inspired to create!!

I used Stickles in Orange Peel , Cinnamon, and diamond, I applied them to the pumpkins as well as around the edges of my pumpkin words.

I embossed with fall swirls embossing folder by Darice.
Paper is Recollections, and My Minds Eye.
I used my Silhouette for the titles, and the words from Miss Kate Cuttables, as well as the pumpkins.

Some pumpkins are from my Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge, I used EK Success Border punch.

Please feel free to visit my blog Mayras Designs .

Pile Up Wednesday: Fall Surprise

Hello Stickles Lovers! Welcome to Wednesday!!!! Cathy here from the ATS Design Team bringing you another Pile Up Wednesday. In the spirit of our Fall Harvest Linky Party I have two Pile Up creations to show you.

Here's the first creation.
Now I know what you are thinking; "Where's the Pile Up"? Does this even have Stickles on it?
Take a closer look, that's Distressed Stickles Vintage Photo on the tree. I've learned from previous mistakes and embossed my tree first since I'd used a water base ink to stamp the image. If you apply Stickles (which are water based and WET) over a water based ink, the color will run.
I know, still not much of a Pile Up. Are you ready for the surprise? Pop open the card and......
An adorable Fall themed image from our awesome sponsor Bugaboo. The image is called Fall Scarecrow. I recently attended a Surprise Card Class and this was one of the layouts we worked on. I tweaked it to fit my Pile Up craving.

The image is colored with Copics and then Stickled up with Distress Stickles. The images includes 8 Distressed Stickles (Antique Bronze, Peeled Paint, Broken China, Brushed Pewter, Fired Brick, Scattered Straw, Rock Candy, Vintage Photo)

I created some straw with a few scraps of cardstock. After they were glued on the back of my image I crunched them up a bit and added touches of Scattered Straw Distressed Stickles.
This angle gives you a better idea of where the Stickles are placed. You'll notice that the Distressed Stickles aren't as shiny as the standard version. They give more of a textural feel than glitz. The bits of shine on the post and band of scarecrows hat are from Sepia Accents.

Here's my second card that comes from the Cathy archives. I was a Stickles Pile Up fanatic long before I joined this awesome Design Team.

This is my before Stickles card using a Fluffles image.

Here it is with some yummy Stickles and Sepia Accents added to the leaves and center of the chipboard sunflower.

Much better, don't you think?

That's all I have for you today. I hope you will join my Stickles Pile Up movement and share your creation. The clocks ticking, but you still have time to join in the Fall Harvest Linky Party.

Thanks for coming to the Pile Up! I'll see you with another creation in a fort night.

Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Hi and welcome to to
Tips and techniques Tuesday here at
ALL THAT STICKLES!!

My tip is a simple one
I have had so many of my bottles clog
(not just STICKLES) and then you
have to cut a little more away from the tip
cause sticking a pin wont unclog it.
This is what happened to my yellow Stickles.
Making the hole big and getting "globs" of Stickles
come out and ruin a project.
Or i needed a thin line of Stickles for something.
So here is how I fixed that.

you just need a small piece of tape and your bottle
wrap it around on an angle to make it into a cone shape

it sometimes takes a few tries
to get it right
if you squeeze gently you will get a steady
thin line.
top yellow is without tape

nothing is perfect in crafting but you can see the differences.

bottom lines are with the tape
Hope this tip helps you

Mixed Media Monday: Autumn

Welcome to Autumn or Fall!  It is Mixed Media Monday here at the All That Stickles blog, with me, Ann, from the Design Team.  The weekend marked the official beginning of my favourite season: Fall. The ongoing theme at our Linky Party is Fall and Harvest.  For some inspiration I made this in my Art Journal:

This is the view we have in our back yard every Fall, no joke!   There is quite a bit of wild life  in the little woods including foxes, wild turkey, sometimes deer, hares, and all the other little woodland creatures you can imagine.  This page is a combination of digital photography shot with my Fuji camera,  stamps (rubber and clear) inks, pastels, crayons and stickles in Parika, Lime Green, Yellow, Distress: Scattered Straw, Vintage Photo, and Spiced Marmalade. I also used Ranger's Jet Black Archival ink for the stamping.

Here is a closer view of some of the areas with stickles, it is very difficult to show the sparkly goodness on screen.
Thanks for stopping by and please check out my blog: Annmakes for the rest of the materials I used to make this, and other fun things!  :)

Featured Fan Friday: Meka, Part II

Hello Everyone!! Meka here from MMDesi9ns I am happy to be the Featured Fan for this Friday again here at All That Stickles!! As you know I love purple so I try to add a little purple in all my projects but since this was a autumn theme project I had to leave the purple out just this time.  So today I am sharing these fall-themed projects  . I appreciate the beautiful seasons and the wonderful friends and family that are in my life!! I hope you enjoy my creations.

Altered Autumn Tag

For this tag I used a standard 2 in a half by 3 inches with the recollections paper from Michael's cut to the tag. I got the flower and the leaf from the flower section added a brad in the middle of the flower. I used the stickles X-mas red and Lime Green to bring out the tag. I cut one inch ribbon and folded about five to make a bigger ribbon.I also made a stick pen used to bring out the autumn theme. Below are more close ups to capture my detailed work. Enjoy!!!!

Autumn  Double-Layered Card

Here I used a plain chocolate brown cardstock folded it the
long way then folded to cross ways. Open it up put a slight cut on the right side then folded the card slight fold then folded it all the way fold for the top of the card.I know this is a little confusing so I will do a video soon to show how I made the card. So as you know if you follow me I love scraps and more scraps. This card is what you call a scrap card. I used the Xmas Red Stickles on the leaves that I purchased at the dollar tree put the all sentiment in the middle. Topped it off with a beautiful butterfly in the corner. Below are more pictures of my detailed work. Enjoy!!!!

Autumn 12x12 Pre-made Layout
Last but not least the 12x12 Premade layout this is where i
used up all the scraps from the two previous projects. I still used the same two stickles with these projects as well Xmas Red and Lime Green great fall colors to go with this layout. I used a title wave sticker Giving Thanks and used all the stickers. I cut the mats into 4x4 inches so the pictures can fit perfectly. I also used a border punch for the bottom and top of both pages. Below are more pictures of my detailed work. Enjoy!!!!
